Our Care

Care designed around each person

At Little Brook House we offer three types of care, each delivered with the same commitment to dignity, warmth and genuine attention to the individual. Whatever the level of support your loved one needs, the starting point is always the same: getting to know the person first.

Our Approach

We run a home, not a hospital

Good care is not about routines and rotas. It is about knowing how somebody likes their tea, which of them sleeps better with the landing light on, and what they did for a living long before they came to us.

Every resident has a care plan built around them. We review, we adapt, and we keep families closely involved at every step. The result is care that feels less like a service and more like family.

Training & Qualifications

A team trained to do this well

Dementia training

Our care team is trained to support people living with dementia with patience and genuine understanding. Ask us what that training covers.

Safeguarding and infection control

Staff training covers safeguarding, infection control, moving and handling, and dementia awareness.

CQC standards

We meet the standards set by the Care Quality Commission, and our Good rating reflects that across all five domains.

Independently inspected

Rated Requires improvement across all five domains

The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. Every home it inspects is rated against five key questions.

  • SafeGood
  • EffectiveGood
  • CaringGood
  • ResponsiveGood
  • Well-ledGood

Good to know

Questions families ask us about care

The things we get asked most when a family is first looking into care. If your question isn't here, just call the team.

How do I know which type of care my relative needs?

You do not need to work that out on your own. Our team will carry out an assessment and talk you through whether residential, dementia or respite care is the right fit. If we are not the right home, we will tell you honestly.

Can I visit before making any decision?

Absolutely, and we encourage it. You are welcome to visit Little Brook House, look around every part of the home and meet the team. There is never any pressure or obligation.

How quickly can a room be arranged?

It depends on availability and your relative's needs. A pre-admission assessment takes place first, and the team will talk you through what is possible, so please call us.

Can my relative bring their own belongings?

Yes. Every room is a private space that belongs to its resident. We encourage photographs, ornaments and personal belongings, so the room feels like home.

Are visitors welcome at any time?

Yes. Families and friends can visit whenever they like. The only thing we ask, where it is possible, is that you avoid mealtimes, so that residents can eat without the dining room becoming busy. We are always happy to arrange a quiet space for private family time.

Who can live at Little Brook House?

We are registered to care for adults aged 65 and over. If you are looking for care for someone younger, we are not able to offer them a place here, and we would rather tell you that straight away than take you through an assessment first.

What is Little Brook House's CQC rating?

Our overall rating is Requires improvement, published on 29 July 2023 after an inspection on 7 and 8 June 2023. Of the five areas the CQC assesses, Effective, Caring and Responsive are rated Good, and Safe and Well-led are rated Requires improvement. Our registered manager took up post about four months before that inspection. Since then we have worked through the improvement plans that came out of it and completed them. The next CQC inspection will be the proper test of that work, and when it is published we will link to it here in the same way. The full report is on the CQC website and we would encourage you to read it. We are happy to talk through anything in it with you, in person or on the phone.

Is Little Brook House regulated and inspected?

Yes. Little Brook House is registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission, and has been since 2010. Our full inspection history and current report are published on the CQC website, and we would encourage you to read them.

Not sure which type of care is right?

Call us or book a visit. We'll talk it through honestly and help you work out the best next step.
